Eeeee! (I get so vicariously excited by other people doing genealogy you wouldn't believe. I just find it so fascinating, other people's as well as my own! So much hidden under the surface and so much you can't find and then so much you can....)

It's so much fun! I find it overwhelming at times as there are so many of them. I have to stop and take a breather.

(Today I traced my G-Grandma through the electoral reg up to 1955. I also spotted her sister and brother in law living on the same street for awhile.)

Oh, and I ordered Edith's marriage certificate! \o/

*nods* You can get so much more info so much faster these days, it's very wise to pause a bit in between!

\o/ If you come up with any more names or addresses for me to throw at the Newspapers, just let me know. (Browsing through takes time, but a search just to see if a hit comes up harms no one, even if I don't get lucky.)

Oh, and I ordered Edith's marriage certificate! \o/Yay, I hope it helps ( ... )

Thank you for the links! I'm sure they'll come in handy. And thanks for the offer to throw names at the papers. I will PM you some names for that!

If you're getting rid of the magazine anyway, I'll be happy to PayPal you the postage. I'm sure there'll be beginners' tips I haven't thought of yet. Thanks!

I ordered my G-Grandad's birth certificate as a PDF and got that yesterday. Now I know his mum's name and maiden name. (Margaret Gregson.) \o/

Christine (my friend) was curious as to how far back the births/marriages/deaths registry goes. I know it's earlier than 1837 (obviously). Any idea?

No 5! That's so funny, that you were named after her and she didn't even use that name!

I know! I wonder if my mum ever realised?

Discovering that the relative I was named after never used our shared name and chose to use her middle name all her life.

It's so annoying when they do that! Don't they know how much it complicates things for those of us trying to find them decades later?!

Tell me about it! I managed to trace her up to 1955 but then she moved.
