I forgot to post this yesterday, so here are two answers.

15. The best gift you've given. This was probably one (sort of) that I gave to Christine. She's a huge fan of The Coral. A few years ago, she discovered they'd released a pile of vinyl singles she'd missed out on buying. She asked if I could find some for her. I know I spent a while tracking ( Read more... )

Back before the likes of eBay and Amazon, a friend wanted a particular book but hadn't been able to find a copy of it. Using the internet, I was eventually able to track down a second hand copy in the USA. The seller agreed to hold it for me.

I then went to the PO or bank (can't remember which now) and purchased the $5 the seller wanted (for the book and postage) in actual cash, and posted it to him.

Book arrived and when my friend got it for Christmas, she was really, really happy!! Even if it was a little battered!!

Amazon, eBay, Abebooks etc make finding second hand books a lot easier these days! :)

As for hardest to buy for, that's often my hubby - unless there's a vinyl album out that he wants, he can be very hard to buy for!

Sometimes, tracking down the gift becomes part of it.

What a fun gift and something you know that she loved.

Books are always the best gift, but often the hardest.

I have no idea what the best gift is I've given. I think that would have to be determined by the persons I've given them to, wouldn't it?

My mom is hard to buy for, so is my brother for the same reason; if they don't like what you've bought, they tell you. Yeah. And they are pretty rude about it. So they only get gift cards because I get sick of them hurting my feelings and not caring if they do.

My husband is also hard to buy for, but that is because he always says he doesn't want anything, so you have to get creative. I usually just end up making a donation to a charity he likes and that makes him happy.

I don't blame you in the slightest. *hugs*

I think the best gift I bought was for my hubby when we were courting. He was obsessed with the film Scrooge at the time and it wasn't available to buy, only rent. I managed to purchase a rental copy for him. He was so chuffed.

It's hard to buy for someone who always buys what they want as they come out, and I find books can be especially hard to buy as peoples taste vary so much.

With books, it's also hard to keep up with which ones people have.
