Ah, Shishido-san! It's been a while -- I didn't know you were here too!

... but was it really that lame?

That's a really cool coincidence! I wonder if this is going to be like a middle school reunion. That would be fun, wouldn't it, Shishido-san?

... and I thought it was a really, really good one too.

It's nice to meet you Ootori-san, I'm Ryuuzaki Sakuno the new receptionist. You're a pianist? That's so wonderful, I hope I can hear you play sometime. ^^

And I though the joke was rather funny, heh~

Ryuuzaki-san? I'm sorry to ask this, but do I know you from somewhere? That name sounds really familiar, for some reason, but if you were in my class, I don't think I'd forget you... But whatever the case, I would be happy to play for you, Ryuuzaki-san! Just name the song, and I'll see what I can do.

And I'm glad you liked it! My mentor gave me a really big book on music jokes, and I'm making it my resolve to use them all someday. It's a really funny book -- everyone should read it.

Oh, well since it seems a lot of people used to be on tennis teams in junior high you might have actually. I was the granddaughter of Seigaku's coach and went to watch quite a few of the matches then. Forgive me if I forgot you as well though, Ootori-san.

That would be lovely! I can't remember any songs at the moment but when I think of any I'll try asking. ^^

I can't wait to hear the others then, heh~

Ah, now I remember you! You used to watch the matches, right? Wow, the world is a pretty small place, huh? Everyone seems to know everyone else. And don't worry about it, Ryuuzaki-san! It's been a really long time, so.

I'll be waiting for that request, then!

"Have I seen your face before?" The judge demanded.

"Yes," said the defendant. "I gave your son violin lessons two years ago."

"Ah, I see," he said. "Twenty years!"

A pianist and singer are rehearsing "Autumn Leaves" for a concert and the pianist says:

"OK. We will start in G minor and then on the third bar, modulate to B major and go into 5/4. When you get to the bridge, modulate back down to F# minor and alternate a 4/4 bar with a 7/4 bar. On the last A section go into double time and slowly modulate back to G minor."

The singer says: "Wow, I don't think I can remember all of that."

The pianist says: "Well, that's what you did last time."

A far better joke. You should have lead with this one.

Oh, sorry about that, Sakaki-san! I'll choose a better joke next time, I promise!

. . . you can't tuna fish?

Reply

diligences January 28 2011, 22:20:19 UTC
Yes! Because a fish doesn't have strings, so you can't really tune one! Oh, but I guess you can tune wind instruments too, but I never really considered it the same as tuning a string instrument-- But whatever the case, you can't tune a fish, so that's why it's the answer.

Sakaki-san! I heard from Shishido-san that you're an employee here as well! How have you been? Are you still the coach for the Hyoutei tennis team?

At least some of my more talented students have kept up their music studies (though hopefully you are not resorting to such parlour tricks wholly) even if it gives way to such terrible jokes.

I have been well, thank you. I am on sabbatical, so no. Himakawa-san will be coaching in my absence.

Well, I was never really that talented. It was all thanks to your guidance that I was able to get anywhere at all. ... and are my jokes really that terrible?

Ah, I see! I look forward to working with you here, Sakaki-san.

Mm, well, that's true. The last time I heard anything through the grapevine, you were back in America. How have you been?
