"We'd agreed to only talk," Draco said laughing. Then he made an awkward face and bit the inside of his cheek. "But, my stomach isn't entirely agreeing with the direction we want to take this."
"We shouldn't take it there tonight. That was the plan," said Neville. He shook his head and stood up first. "The food was delicious but it wasn't chocolates and strawberries…"
"Is that what does it for you?" Draco said in a teasing tone. He very well knew being Harry Potter was also a thing that did it for him.
Neville smiled and shook his head. "I should call it a night."
It was all fun and games until Longbottom had to call it a night. Draco supposed someone had to or they'd all be sitting around on his sofa snogging and not taking it to the next level; because he couldn't be the only always making the first move and both Neville and Harry were too much of Gryffindors.
"What about you, Potter? Are you staying or going?"
Draco read the expression on Potter's face before he could even say the words. Was he allowed to stay? Was it in the rules?
Did Potter always play by the rules?
"I should go," Neville said quickly and started to leave the room.
"Hey…" Draco pulled on Neville's elbow and didn't allow him to escape. "You're going to need to stop running away from me," he whispered in Neville's ear. "You and me. Remember?"
"I remember," Neville replied. "But if Harry wants to stay, I don't want him to think there's some rule where there isn't…"
"There are no rules," Draco said confidently. "But we can set boundaries if you'd like."
Neville smiled at Draco and Draco felt a warmth inside him he hadn't felt before. That smile Neville gave him, it was special. It made Draco think it was something just for him. He’d never seen Longottom give that smile to anyone else.
"What?" Draco asked, trying to sound exasperated because it was better than sounding smitten.
"You're the ring-leader then?" Neville raised an eyebrow, and Draco didn't miss the way he'd almost leaned into Draco right then but then thought otherwise.
Draco shrugged. "Well, someone has to take charge if two Gryffindors are going to stand around debate over morality, righteousness, and whatever else-"
"We don't debate," said Neville.
"No, you just suffer in silence," Draco said rolling his eyes. "You've been awfully quiet." Draco turned to look at Harry. "You're going to say something?"
Harry was leaned back looking relaxed on Draco's sofa. Gods, he looks like he belongs there. He shook his head. "No. I just enjoy the two of you going at it like that," he said, laughing, and then took a sip of his drink. "It's hot to see you two get so worked up with each other." And then he winked; Draco nearly well lost it.
"Potter…" Draco growled before he was on Harry like a moth to a flame.
