She's wrapped in the silk sheet, nearly covered except for her shoulders and the leg that's all but dangling off the bed.
You try not to stop and stare because you can't stay too long. It was supposed to be a one-time thing which's happened over and over again for the past few months.
You're supposed to be better than this. This isn't what you're here for. You were supposed to reach out to her, try to get her to be on your side-yet-you ended up doing something completely different.
This isn't like you. You're not a stupid Gryffindor that gives in to your desires and doesn't think of the consequences. You're Severus Snape-cold, calculating, and always calm.
The fact that her husband is locked away is supposed to be your in. Your in to get her to-
She stirs. "Severus..." she mumbles and turns without opening her eyes.
You are relieved to know that she knows she's been with you. That in her deep unconscious state she isn't thinking of her husband. Her husband who is going to be freed soon because you know of the Dark Lord's plans, even if she doesn't.
It's hard. It's hard to leave, because it's been so long since you've had the touch of a woman...another woman that belongs to another man. Not you.
This isn't your purpose. You could stand there, marvel at her beauty as her face is half covered with her silken hair-the hair you just had wrapped around your fingers, but you must move on.
Come back when you're more settled. When you're not comforting yourself but comforting her. Converting her. Think of her son. Her son who is so foolishly in love with Potter-the boy you're supposed to protect.
You take a deep sigh because this isn't a battle you can win. Lately, none of them have been.
She calls after you again, or you think she does, but you leave.
