Runaway - PG - 435 words hikarievandar December 5 2015, 00:51:36 UTC
He’s not so much angry as he is disappointed. He feels like he should have known this would happen, and he shoves his chair back from the table. His father doesn’t even have the grace to look guilty, though there’s a tinge of pink to his cheeks that may, possibly, hint at him knowing that he’s a complete arsehole. Mother’s glaring daggers at him; it’s reassuring, but nowhere near enough to stop Scorpius from stalking out of the dining room in search of James.

James’ cloak and scarf are still hanging in the lobby. The front door is flung open, and outside a snowstorm rages. Fat flakes of white are piling up on the lawns, swiftly burying James’ footprints. Scorpius pauses only just long enough to pull on his hat and a thick winter coat - thank the heavens for built-in warming charms; he can’t perform magic outside of school yet - before plunging out into the cold in search of his boyfriend.

Who may, possibly - hopefully - remain his boyfriend if he can find it in himself to ignore the fact that Scorpius’ father is an utter twat at ( ... )

Thank you so much! It's my first attempt at writing next-gen so I was a little nervous.

It's all based on the expression on James' face and the way Scorpius' hands are gripping his shirt. It's a gorgeous image and so emotive. Something about their pose just screamed desperation to me, and so the fic happened. ^_^

I'm happy you did, there's not enough Next Gen in the world! :) And so, so lovely. <3

Thank you so much! The image showed so much loving emotion between them, and I'm so glad that my fic reflected that. It was really fun to write too - I've never written next-gen before, but Scorpius' head was a great space to be in.

This is wonderful and so poignant!

I somehow missed reading this drabble as I rushed to write one of my own and the story is almost exactly the same. ::blushes:: forgive me, I feel very embarrassed and am doing all in my power not to delete mine, haha.

In any case, your story is lovely and I adore all the descriptions of their surrondings

Thank you!

Please don't delete your fic - it's too cute to be deleted! It is similar to mine, but I think we have different enough styles and a different enough focus within the fics for them to stand completely seperately. Besides, we were working from the same image - similarities have to be expected to an extent.

Thank you! I'm so glad you like it. I've never written next-gen before, so it's great that you enjoyed it.

Your art is amazing, by the way. I love this picture so much. It's really emotive - I love how they're posed - and it was a really inspiring image to work from.

And James' hair! This picture has made me want him to be a redhead.

If this is canon-compliant, you've done showing Draco as quite the arse perfectly w/out even any dialogue. (And then regretting his words). This is really great for never having written next-gen before! I can wait for your Ron/Draco fic now ♥

Thank you so much! It is canon-compliant. Behind the scenes, Astoria is making Draco wish he'd kept his mouth shut.

I'm really looking forward to Ron/Draco! It's a new pairing for me, but it's my RL best friend's OTP and she finally managed to convince me that it's a thing I need in my life. The fest came along at the perfect time, and I've already started on the fic. <3
