I remember "The Toll Gate" being a Heyer I was somewhat unimpressed with. I don't remember what it was about, really (or the specifics, rather, they're all really more or less about the same thing), but I know I read it in my first Heyer go-through in my late teens, and skipped it in my 2nd bout in my early 20s. What did you love about it?

The Toll-Gate is more of a mystery than her other regency stories. I enjoyed that aspect and got a kick out of the adventure aspect. But it is very different from Heyer's comedy of manners books. Those are still my favorites of hers.
