Top 100 Children's Books

Apr 19, 2010 16:33

School Library Journal's top 100 kids books meme stolen from suzy_queue. I've read 36 out of 100. It would be 37 if I could remember which Ramona book I read in the 4th grade! I'm making notes for what I should read. Some of the ones I've never heard of look good!

My List )

robert c. o'brien, c.s. lewis, christopher paul curtis, the chronicles of narnia, harry potter, lloyd alexander, books, meme, l.m. montgomery, secret garden

A lot if not most of these books were published AFTER i graduated from middle school.

Hmm. I'm going to have to read these, if i've not already, and seems there is a lot i've not read.

As it was a recent vote, I'm not surprised there are so many recent titles. But then there also has been some really good children's books published in the last 10 years too, as well as a lot of not so good ;)

I certainly have a few on my list. I've loved Sharon Creech's work but haven't read either of her titles on this list.

but I'm really curious for your opinion of Inkheart. Read the first book some years ago and loved it. Last year I finished the other two and enjoyed them, too. So first I wondered why she had written two more of the story ;-)
And I hope you give Pipi Longstocking a try. It's really fun

I'm hoping to read Inkheart this summer. I'll have to read it in English. I'm not brave enough to read the whole thing in German, but I'm curious to look at the German. I learn new words this way.

And I'll have to look at Pipi. I don't have red hair but one of my elementary school teachers liked to call me Pipi because I reminded her of her.
