What I read in 2009

All ratings are on how much I enjoyed the book, and don't necessarily factor in artistic merit or lack there of ;-).

Key:
= Hated it (only #77 got this rating)
* = Didn't like it, but didn't hate it
** = Liked it
*** = Liked it a lot
**** = Loved it
***** = BEST of the best of the best! (I only gave this rating to 3 books)

AB = Audio Book
NF = Non ( Read more... )

WOW.
Count me impressed.
Both that you have a list, and mostly that you've read/listened to these books.

Thanks! I do a lot of design work (for both fun and work) and I used to just listen to music but audiobooks help break it up and pass the time.

On C19 we have aboard where you post all that you read throughout the year and update it each time you read something new and rate the book as you go. This list is just that list copied over here and adapted to LJ format.

Thanks! This was my New Years Resolution last year.

I have a lot of food allergies so thinking about food depresses me. Last year I decided that I would do things I enjoyed even if I didn't have time for them, and one of them is reading. And then cooking while listening to audio books gets my mind off the food.

Wow, that's quite an impressive list! I've been meaning to read a Georgette Heyer book for ages, but I don't know where to start. Do you have any recommendations?

It depends on what you like with Heyer. She wrote in a very broad range. My favorites of hers are the Regency comedies of a manners (although I have no use at all for Venetia). But I also enjoy her mysteries.

So far my favorites of hers are:
-The Grand Sophy
-Sylvester
-Cotillion
-Friday's Child
-The Nonesuch (although I think its flawed)
-Black Sheep

Any one of those would be good to start with, but Sophy is my absolute favorite.

This overview is helpful as well. Make sure you read the bottom with advice on where to begin.

Thanks for listing your own favourites and the overview - I'll definitely try out a few novels :)
