Canli and Gabrieli (2004) (pdf) , in a review of Hamann et al (2004) (pdf) for Nature Neuroscience, quote Woodrow Wyatt as saying that "a man falls in love through his eyes, a woman through her ears." The difference for me between men and women isn't auditory/visual, it's text/visual. I find visual cues rarely arouse me much at all. Text-porn, though...mmm, baby.

I do, however, have a tip for those who prefer to use text-porn: do not combine this with smoking, particularly substances which impair the cognition. Holding a piece of paper in the same hand as the substance which is about to be lit is especially NOT recommended.

I liked the ending of that article especially: "It remains to be seen whether decreased amgydala activation associated with ejaculation is causally linked to males' subsequent unwillingness to snuggle." (It's so rare to see the post-s apostrophe used correctly!)

I wondered about the Gabrieli, but didn't take the time to look it up. Thanks!
