According to an EurekAlert press release (2008), two gender difference stories made the "top ten" list by popularity (measured by total web hits) in 2007:

The first actually does surprise me. I complain a lot, but I always find it helpful and stress-relieving. Or else why would I do it? I guess I thought everyone felt the same way.

According to Rose, co-rumination increased closeness in friendships (for both girls and boys) -- so that might be why they do it, especially if they don't know other ways to increase closeness.
