HOw interesting. I switched from Lexapro to celexa and noticed no changes. It is chemically the same. What dosage do you take? Mind you, I no longer take it! Yay! And it's pretty cheap, at least the celexa, at Walgreens.
BTW, you don't want to just drop off of it! You go a few days and you'll really notice the backlash...funky headaches and wierd feelings in your head. Have you ever looked up what happens when you try to get off of the drug? And I was lucky....I weaned off and had no problems!
Yeah, I've been thru the withdrawls before. Many, many times. Unfortunately, I ran out, didn't realize I didn't have any refills.
Chemically, it's close to being the same, but Lexapro is a later incarnation, it's been tweaked some. I can feel the difference.
I'd much rather spend an extra hundred bucks and feel better than not.
I gotta say, though, lexapro withdrawls are worse than xanax withdrawls, but when I went to jail, guess which one I got put on a valium wean for? *rolls eyes* Second day is the worst for me, combine both of them and I was kinda getting an out of body experience. Three weeks later, they put me back on Celexa, but after a month when I was due for a refill, they never sent me back to the shrink so once again I got to go cold turkey - they don't really give a shit about you in County.
Thank god I've got a friend who's a doctor, he just sent me 2 weeks worth, with the promise of giving me more by the time I run out.
Too bad...I have an almost completely full bottle of citalopram (the generic version of celexa) but it's 40 mg. Be sure to check Walgreen and ask about getting their discount card. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't very expensive at all. My other meds cost me more than $100 a bottle so I really wished that celexa was the only thing I needed. *but then I finally didn't need anything, so it all worked out in the end!*
