Michelin Starred Restaurants and me

Jan 18, 2009 04:11

Where is the best place to eat to impress? I have no idea. But the Michelin guide has food tasters who do all the work so all we need to do it eat at the places where there are stars.

  1. Michael's nook (lake District, UK)- Sept 1998 with my parents and Volvo. My first time tasting Fois Gras. Hurray for mixing business and pleasure!
  2. 1 Lombard Street (London, UK) - 2004 with nat. Ok, we just had a drink there, i didn't understand why the hell my bloody mary was £12 until i googled it a few years later.
  3. Hakkasan (London, UK) - a few times with Matt 809, Nat, Sudz - another poncey restaurant but with decent Dim sum and affordable
  4. Locanda Locatelli (London, UK) 2004 i think. With nat again. I wondered why on earth the portions were so small and the food so expensive! Then i googled it and found out why. NAT! you are bad on the wallet!!
  5. Aubergine (Chelsea, London, UK) - sept 2005 with mark just before i left London
  6. Summer Isles Hotel, (Achiltibuie, Highlands, UK) - Summer 2007 on a romantic weekend getaway with Pman. Wonderful! They had a desert trolley and we could have as much of EVERYTHING and then the cheese trolley came afterwards with the same principle!
  7. Number One (Edinburgh, UK) - Feb 2008. Where Pman proposed
  8. Ballachulish House (Near Oban, UK) - Sept 2008. With parents. very disappointing. I think they just lost their star as well.
  9. Deans (Belfast, Northern Ireland) - May 2009. On honeymoon. Good, but never as good as Aubergine.
  10. Gordom Ramsay (London, UK) - Nov 2009. Review (or rather, babble) here
  11. The Peat Inn, one of the best places in Scotland and a part of an exceedingly good Valentine's weekend with my beloved. You're really spoiling us! (Near St Andrews, UK, Feb 2010
  12. Murano (London, UK September 2010) with Bren, Melf, Pman and Silas (Brenda's boy). It was for my '21st' birthday and at the end they served me a lovely meringue cake. It was ok.
  • Mirador De Ulia (San Sebastian, Spain August 2011) with Pedro, Petra, Dim, Anu, Jeremy and Elisabeth - my uni mates! It was one of the amazing trips with mates that i will never forget. A one last hurrah of sorts...
