Ah, my man Augustine. Always brings a smile to my face :)

I love that verse from Scripture. It tells me two things: one, as you pointed out, we indeed can be like our Mother by hearing and fulfilling the word of God. And two, instead of Jesus actually in any way downplaying Mary's importance (as some Protestants like to point to this passage to do), rather it raises her importance as our perfect Christian model to a highest degree, because who fulfills this description better than she?
