David Tennant with pigtail

Especially for hai-di who wanted to see David Tennant at the stage door of "Richard II" without his hat, but of course also for everyone else in here! Very unusual sight on him. On stage, the hair was open, not braided. And he flung it around as if he had never worn anything else. He tenderly stroked it with his hands, or shook it back... Was nice to ( Read more... )

I have seen him on TV with long hair before and it still looks so strange to me.

He's so nice to face that mob looking for autographs! I would assume that he is shot after giving a performance and he probably just wants to go rest. Good for him for being such a great sport!

It's always very organized. There is a barrier where fans can wait so he does not get crushed. The problem this time was that WE got crushed as we were in first row but there were five rows. The ones in the last rows don't have any chance to get to him, as he just goes from one side to the next and then leaves. At the stage door with John Barrowman, there is no need to push, as he waits till everyone is satisfied.

But yeah, I do wonder if they are not tired after a play and should just leave. I think John did a few times when he did not feel like it. And it is okay. Mostly it is the same people every evening anyway.

Plus, if they stand too long in the cold, they might get ill and then can't perform any longer.

You're welcome! It is, isn't it?

Did you see the Graham Norton show with David and Matt Smith? Graham was mocking the hairstyle and David said, that it is for a role, it's not his personal choice LOL

I am just wondering about the practical bits, you know, washing long hair is much more difficult etc... I'm sure he's glad when it will be gone ;)

In the beginning it did look odd but after a few months it looks like he never wore anything else!
But I guess he will be sad when it is gone as washing long hair surely is complicated.

Really great pics. Thanks for sharing them! I had no idea what was going on during that play but I just kept looking at the Pretty so all was well. David could be on stage reading the phone book and I'd be happy!

Hehe so I was not the only one! I had read the Wikipedia description beforehand, but it still was very hard to follow. I look forward to the DVD, with subtitles it will be easier.

Aside from all scenes with David of course, I loved the one where they were throwing all the gloves and then were running out of gloves to throw LOL

With David I loved most the scene where he was so sad at the beach, where he had taken off his shoes. We were in eight row and you could see his sad eyes. He is so good at emotional pain.

At the DW 50th Anniversary event Matt and Steven were laughing about how much they had hoped David would come to watch the Day of the Doctor with them, just so they could tease him about the hair. I saw pictures of him before seeing the show and thought it looked terrible, but I was assured by a friend who saw it in Stratford that it worked for the play. I had to agree after seeing it. The whole show was wonderful!

It worked indeed surprisingly well on stage! He looked very different with it and the long gown, very angelic? And I think he had fun to flip his hair around and play with it. But surely he'll also be happy when it is gone again. Must be difficult to wash etc.?

I admit I did not much understand of the plot (waiting for the DVD to watch it again with subtitles) but it was awesome nonetheless. I liked most the scene where he was taking off his shoes. So much sadness in his eyes there. He plays pain so well.
