Hi! Back home from London where I got cuddles, autographs and get to sit at the same table like John Barrowman, here is the first story from the con, as people have asked. Try to imagine his very own way of not just telling stories but acting them all out!
The question was: "Please tell us about your real life heroship this week".
So, on Thursday, John just came from his concert in Newcastle - some fans from Newcastle gave a shout then in the audience - and he was checking into his hotel in Glasgow. It was 2 AM in the morning. He just had brought his parents to their room and was now in his own room, together with the concierge, as the room was not cold enough for John's liking - he likes to sleep very cold (to keep the wrinkles from getting too deep *wink*)
Then they heard a scream from the room opposite of his parents. A young couple was in the hall and yelled: "Hold him!" and they saw a young boy dash down the hall. John's mother came out of her room, with night cream in her face (I should add that she also was sitting in the audience, listening to this story) and then also John's Dad came out, scratching his - um, well, John showed where he scratched. Use your imagination.
Anyway, playing Captain Jack Harkness on "Torchwood" for four years must have rubbed off somehow - he yelled to the concierge: "Call the police, and then trap him at the staircase!" - "What was I thinking" and he shook his head.
So, John dashed after the boy and at the elevator he caught up with him. The boy just had hit the concierge hard into the face - his glasses went flying - "he was blind" - and John grabbed the boy's ankles, and snatched him off his feet so he fell backwards and bumped his head on the floor. John then sat with one knee on him, held the arms and the concierge held the legs and they waited for the police.
When the police arrived John again fell into Captain Jack mode and yelled: "What took YOU so long!" With exclamation mark on the "you".
The woman that got robbed told the boy "as a mother" to just tell the truth and everything will be fine. Then she turned to John and said, how am I supposed to tell my kids that I got saved by Captain Jack Harkness?
Up until now the story was very funny but now John got serious, telling us the boy was only 14 and on drugs and did not have parents and was left behind by the others who did the robbery, to get caught. And if he likes, John would help him with rehab and also give him a job in theatre or panto, "to give him a sense of responsibility, because I believe in second chances, I believe everyone deserves a second chance".
We then just applauded as this is how we love our John, right?
Three questions later John remembered that he wore his Captain America shirt at the time. No wonder he went into Superhero mood.
Two hours later Daniele Favilli who had played "Angelo" in "Miracle Day" got asked how old he was, as fans estimated everything between 21 and 37. He was proud they thought he was 21 and then answered with a straight face: "I'm 85 - my room is very cold!" and John who sat next to him was cracking up ;) Then Daniele admitted that he actually is 38, and he was astonished when he saw the scene where Jack changes his ID with his wrist scanner (he had not seen it when shooting as it was a special effect) that they made him only 23 years old.
Everyone loved Daniele, it was his first con, he danced at all parties and loved the interaction with fans as well.
And so that everyone knows what he looked like yesterday, here is a gallery with some very nice pictures:
