Catching up with the new Doctor Who season (and even liking it, much to my own surprise) I found a very familiar place in the second episode! Back in 2011, John Barrowman, his sister Carole and their husbands had made a France / Spain road trip, and they also had visited City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. I already loved the place then, and do ( Read more... )

Ooh, I wondered where that location was! Didn't expect it to be so far away from Wales.

Yes, they are indeed far away from Wales! Like when they went to Dubai. Or Utah. Apparently they do that once in a while.

Do you know this page? http://www.doctorwholocations.net/

It's great to look up where something was filmed. Just click "Story listings" in the upper right left and look for a specific episode. It only goes to series 9 so far though so I don't know if they will continue. There is also Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures.

It's weird to see this place crowded :) I knew they were on location for that episode, but I thought they CGI-ed some of it, you know, made it bigger or more futuristic. No need, the place's enormous! And beautiful - I actually like it more now when I know it's a 100% real place. Wow, suddenly one has a need for a trip to Spain ;)

LOL I feel the same! Let's go together! I already loved it when seeing the JB pictures a few years back. It also looks rather hot though! Not sure I like that. But I love how it is all white against the blue sky.

I wonder when they filmed? Did they close it down?

Do you know any Spanish? Sadly, I can only say "hello" ;)

I don't know. Maybe they came for a day when it was closed anyway? Not sure how much time they spent there.

Nope no Spanish at all! That might be a problem.
But I have a friend who has learnt Spanish and often travels to such countries. We need to take her along then ;)

Thank you, glad you liked them!

It took me a while to remember where I had seen this before but then they showed the exact same angle of that one pic (minus John standing there) and then I knew! I wish I could visit this place some time. It looks amazing.
