Introducing: Alfred Pennyworth (Gotham)

The closest I will get to living in a big manor and have a butler - Alfred Pennyworth! He comes with a huge fireplace. Alfred, played by Sean Pertwee, is one of the best things of this series. He's also quite a fighter. But I'll have to repaint his hair, as it looks awful like this. It should be darker grey on top and lighter grey at the sides, but ( Read more... )

So that's what Sean got up to recently. Many years ago I spent quite a lot of time in his company as he was with the RSC. I believe he was on a nightclub outing we went on too.

Wow, nice! You surely have some stories to tell!

I don't think I have known him before. It's so lovely to hear his English accent among all the American voices in the show. And what a voice, wow.

And he's great, a no-nonsense Alfred, with hints of having been with the MI6 or something. He teaches Bruce how to fight. But there is also great comical timing. In the beginning he looked a bit lost, suddenly having to raise a child.

I can recommend it, if you are into Batman stuff!

I REALLY didn't need any more guys to juggle, sheesh! I'm not even yet through with all "Gotham" seasons and now have started to randomly check out other Sean work on youtube. I stumbled about a series called "Bodyguards" from 1996. Is it good? Only have seen 15 minutes of the pilot and already love it. I need to quit working and watch TV all day long.

The last "Gotham" episode I watched was really intense, an old war buddy was coming for visit and it got hinted that they had seen some awful things together back then and that Alfred also had been taken prisoner, and there was some great acting in these scenes.

I've not seen Bodyguards but will make a point of watching it. Having dug through my memory I realised that Sean must even have been in the car load of actors I drove to the nightclub. I believe he asked his mate Ian 'who are these people!?' when my sister was organising us. Ah the days of being fans but not fans (as one theatre employee explained). We fitted in very well.

Apart from the hair (you are right about that!), Alfred is perfect down to the smallest detail. Including the fireplace!:-)
