John Barrowman Disney Broadway Musical Gala Royal Albert Hall

Oct 24, 2016 01:41

Tonight was a gala with Disney songs in the Royal Albert Hall, moderated by John Barrowman. Apparently tickets sold out in June within minutes, and it was only a few weeks ago when John or anyone else actually was announced for this (Alan Menken also was there and a lot of others). Somehow, some fans found some spare tickets. I didn't even bother ( Read more... )

He is! This is what I fell in love with in 2009. I had just started watching Torchwood and looked at his website, and they sold a DVD of his concert tour, there was a video clip with a medley. I was blown away. I thought he was just a young actor, I had no idea that he had been doing musicals for 17 years already.

If you haven't seen much of his singing yet, just go to youtube, it's all there. Or I can send links of my favorite songs.

Here are three of my all-time favorite:

Have you heard that they want to do an Arrow musical episode? I hope they put him into it, it would be a shame not to!

He is really very very talented! Wonderful voice, again, and I hope he will be in that Arrow musical - it is actually "his", isn´t it?:-)
THank you for the links.:-)

I'm happy to report that after a while of wondering whether I was still in the JB fandom (do yourself a favor and don't watch the Celibrity Juice show that aired on Thursday. It's really not good) he just has to go and sing some Disney songs and I am back!
So everything's back on track :)

Wow, how the sound resonates there. It's good to see he's doing fine ;)

Back on track indeed ;) I surprised myself, instead of going to bed (it was 2 AM!) I was playing these clips in a loop. I keep saying this but this man belongs onto a stage with a live audience. That is where he shines.

He only sang three songs, as he was the moderator of the show, so just going there for John would have been a bit overkill (and very expensive). I can keep you updated for the TV and radio stuff, if you are interested.

A true fan's devotion ;)

With JB, I'm not that keen on being informed about events per se, I'm mostly interested in your thoughts and reactions. So I'll read with pleasure any posts with your comments on his career and everything, while I don't need to know all the facts. I hope you understand what I mean :)

Sorry, I forgot for a moment that you are not really into musicals. I thought the gala would be nice watching because of the Disney songs, not necessarily because of JB.

How about David Tennant then? You've heard he is doing theatre right? I have no money but want to go anyway ;)

These guys will be the death of me. Or at least the death of my wallet.

He has such a great voice. Why isn't he doing Broadway or London musical theatre?!?!?! (Not expecting an answer here lol.)

I'm giving you an answer anyway ;) As he has talked about it. He did it for 17 years in the beginning of his career, when he was young. Mostly in London but also a few on Broadway. He had main roles in "Beauty and the Beast", "Hair", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Anything goes", "Miss Saigon", "Chicago" and many I don't remember from the top of my head. Some are also available as cast CDs ( ... )

Thanks for all the info. Wow...I didn't know all that..it is a lot of time invested when doing a play.

Yes, very time consuming. When doing panto, two shows a day, seven days a week, he does not do anything else. No parties in the evening I mean. Just performing and sleeping. And autographs and photographs at the stage door. But the way he runs and dances around the stage, it must be exhausting.
