I am so excited it is official! John already told a small group of fans at the stage door but we were asked to keep quiet for the moment. Today it is official, he chose the convention in Pasadena with lots of journalists to reveal that new Torchwood radio plays will be made, with the whole old team! I can't wait to listen to it ( Read more... )

That's great news, if it includes Gareth, Burn and Naoko!

I sure hope it does! When he says "It's the team back together" then that is what I expect. Nobody would get excited over the Miracle Day team?

They can still tell old stories from the time before.

I think there must be a lot of stories from the time when they were all alive. You're right, I doubt there would be much enthusiasm for plays about the Miracle Day 'team', it's Classic Torchwood that gets people excited.

It is! Hopefully I have not been getting overexcited now, reading it wrong? But it clearly states "The team back together again". Surely they know what the fans want!

That's what I was saying. Just the fact alone that there IS new material is a success for the fans. As we didn't have any in years and it looked as if the franchise was dead. But there was a campain for BringBackTorchwood, and also when I was at the convention last year, with (almost) all the actors there, they know how much we love it, and they are all ready to come back. They said we deserve it. With other shows, people move on when they are off the air, but not with Torchwood. That is a deep affection and love.

I am also happy for John. I watched a video from a convention where he said how hard it was to let go of Captain Jack, it is like saying good-bye to an old friend. He must be overexcited.

Awesome news! Torchwood is like Dr. Who or Stargate in that the stories are endless. While I really enjoyed Miracle Day, that was a one-off story told in episodes. It's done and there is nothing left to say. I'm sure John is talking about using the original cast for the radio plays. Look how long Stargate and Dr. Who books/dramas have gone on. As long as there is a paying public that makes the projects lucrative, they'll produce the content. Woohoo!

You are so right! All the possibilities. And even if it wasn't the Torchwood we know, there are still many. Some think about a TW series set in Victorian Times. A bit of steam-punk. That would be awesome!

And Jack's story alone has so many chapters we have not touched. What he did, where he lived all those years. Or what he might have done years later. They could easily explain John ageing if they wanted to.

I had hoped for Stargate to become something like the Star Trek franchise, with new teams and new stories, for decades. I am also very sad about the way it ended and wonder if we ever will see it back.

As for the Torchwood plays, I have updated my post now with more links and one says that RTD is actually not involved (but it's done with his blessing) and the BBC says it is not confirmed yet. So let's hope it will come true indeed and John did not speak too soon.

This is exciting and amazing. Can't wait as I absolutely LOVE radio plays and listen to the BBC frequently. On BBC recently....I just listened to Neil Gaiman's "Nevermore" then Neil Gaiman/Terry Prachet's "Good Omens" and one of my favourite childhood stories "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christan Andersen. BBC does such fantastic productions! Torchwood couldn't be in better hands!

I listen just before I bed as they keep it upon their website for a while if I happen t miss is live...it's like bedtime stories for adults LOL!
