Oh crap, if I fail do i still get to keep my head? I'm rather attached to it.
I'm liking it so far, although it's got veeeeery religious overtones for sure. It's kind of cute that Therese talks about how he could pick up her and both her brothers at the same time without any trouble at all, and then there's a reference to the coal shovel/page thing.
It also acknowledges that Sophie existed, which automatically earns it brownie points in my books. And also has adorable quotes like so in it:
There was so much in his heart that he longed to express to her, but he could not find the words. He wanted to tell her that she was the loveliest, most beguiling girl he had ever seen; that he wished he could lay all of France at her feet; that he did not know why he, of all Princes, had been given such an exquisite bride. All he could say was “I think of you…all the time.” “And I think very often of you,” she softly replied. He stopped abruptly. Putting his hands on her shoulders, he turned her towards him. “Do you love me?” he asked in a husky voice. She looked straight into his eyes. “Yes I do,” she said, firmly. “And what is more, I respect you.” It was the answer he had been longing to hear. “Oh, truly?” he asked, kissing her hands. “Yes,” she said, a slight tremor in her voice. “Truly.” He folded her into his arms, lost in the happiness of their first real embrace.
