Karla, however, was practically buzzing with happiness. She and Warren were having a perfectly lovely week, she and Tara had planned another super-fun sleepover like she used to host way back in the day, and since she hadn't gotten any angry voicemails from Elphaba, she could only assume 'Plan Get Elphie Out There' had been a raging success.

So guess who was tapping on the door frame and calling, "Kiss kiiiiiiiss!"

"The door's unlocked," Elphaba said, quickly scrabbling to shove her book under her pillow and compose herself. She sat up, and found herself fiddling with her hair, hoping it looked good when her friend came in.

If she'd been of sound mind, she'd have wondered why she was bothering to do so.

Which meant there was now a Karla, bouncing into Elphaba's room, wearing a giant grin. "Hello!" she said, practically tossing herself on the foot of her friend's bed. Usually, she'd be a little politer and wait for an invitation, but that all just seemed silly today.

"I just realized we never--Mother Night, your hair looks adorable." Way to stay on track, Karla. "You look really pretty today, actually."

Really, really pretty. Karla was noticing, yes.

"I do?" Elphaba said, almost blushing. She had felt warm, but... she gave her friend a sheepish smile. "Thank you. You always do tend to notice. You're about the only one."

She patted the spot next to her on her bed. "Come, talk. You wanted to say something?"
