Tourist or Terrorist?

I just posted this in the photographers LJ community, but I'm also posting it here.

I was in downtown Chicago earlier today taking pictures for the monthly photo challenge.  It's unusual for me to be coming home with my photo gear in tow, so I took the opportunity to take some photographs of Union Station and other places I passed along the way.  ( Read more... )

That picture is great. I'm sorry you had to deal with a douchebag for it.

First off while the dumb ass conductor was trying to scare you off, the people who was on the train should had told him, "Ah, mother fucker first off instead of playing Officer Barney Fife, you should be driving my ass home and I don't think the other trains that's behind you don't appreciate you wasting your time on this either". Personally you & the other riders that was on that train should had reported him for trying to be a FBI agent.

I do this all the time and never get hassled for it; very strange.
I am sorry you had to deal with that.

Maybe you look more like a tourist than a terrorist? ;-) How exactly do tourists dress that singles them out?

Wow, for a change _I'm_ not the one being accused of being a terrorist!

A while back I was wanting to do shots on various CTA stations and had noticed some posted signs warning that taping and photography weren't allowed on CTA premesis. Be that as it may, the CTA driver was (surprise, surprise) unreasonably dickish to you. I'm sorry hun!

Hmm, I don't remember seeing signs like that. According to the link in my post, they are specifically allowing photography. What gets me is that if I really wanted to, I could easily take lots of pictures of the train station when no one's around. I wouldn't wait for the conductor to be 10 feet away from me if I were trying to get away with something. The only reason I waited is because I wanted the train in the shot.
