Loved it Di! Ah Bertie, he is a romantic but then so is his father. It can't be helped. I loved that she scoffed but really enjoyed the line anyway. It's also a nice glimpse into her back story, which is, like all of your characters I'm sure, richly detailed.
Thank you! Yes Bertie is a romantic and takes after his father more than he realises. I think that's Sophia in a nutshell when it comes to Bertie. She may scoff and snap at him, but she loves him and can't stop thinking about him, or keep away from him.
Thank you, and yes I have a very detailed backstory all sorted out for Sophia. :D
Sophia being half Italian is one of those things that when I realised it, made perfect sense. I've had this idea that she's spent a lot of time in SimFlorence for a while and having relatives there makes a lot of sense. Then there's her hot-headedness too. Of course that's not the only reason she acts as she does, (and I'm going to touch on those other reasons next chapter) but it does add to her fiery nature.
I actually wasn't impressed by the city at all, I much preferred Rome, but I would like to go back one day and give it another chance, I'd go back when it wasn't August though.
I've since found out a bit more about the fig leaves and although it was happening before the Victorian era, a plaster fig leaf was made to cover the replica of David in the V&A after Queen Victoria expressed shock at his nakedness. It was brought out and attached in place whenever the queen visited. The fig leaf is still exhibited in the V&A although it's never attached to the statue any more.

Sophia being half Italian is so awesome! I love how it shows in her temper and expressiveness.
Florence, *sigh* I am so jealous. Fig leaves! That totally sounds like a Victorian thing to do.

This takes place in the gap between chapters 24.3 and 24.2 so I get to get them to this point very soon and I'm very excited about it. :D
