choosing an Author Photo

This is hard! It’s made a bit easier because Ted has all our photos organized in iPhoto so that I can just sort for the ones with my face, but still it’s a tough decision. I like 2 best, with 4 only just behind.

I think 4 is clearly the best. The background has plenty of bokeh so it's not distracting, the distance is right, and your smile is friendly and confident but still professional. In #1 you're frontlit by direct sunlight, which washes you out a little bit and made you squint. Squinting does not project calm confidence and total expertise.

1 or 4. Def not 3 because of the sunglasses, want to see your eyes.

2 is lovely but the line of the wall is right across the middle of the pic and distracting.

I like 1 best not as a personal portrait of you but as a business book image. If you were publishing fiction or poetry with this book, it'd be another story.

I vote for 4. 2 and 3 look too much like travel photos. 1 is professional looking and would do fine but I think you look more approachable in 4.
