I've been thinking of jumping ship too. Or just starting over somewhere else, while still continuing this one. Can't you include all your ideas in one, or start more than one blog and write where the mood strikes. My "theme" ideas for my own blog: movies, health/exercise/nutrition, teaching, general living and philosophy...books maybe...

Make sure to let us know where you go if you do. ;)

Theoretically, possibly I could combine everything. But I think that having a focused theme would challenge me more as a writer, and that's what I want write now.

Your movie reviews make me want to dig out notes from my film classes (esp. history of documentary). My major ended up having a big film component but I am terrible about remembering names and titles of things, even when they are things I like.

I have a book review journal/blog/not really either- at goodreads.com - mostly to remember what I read.

Of course I'll let you know where I decide to move! :).

What did you end up majoring in? I really enjoy movies and have for a long time, but I'm glad it's sort of just an independent hobby, that I sometimes neglect and then return to. I don't think I'd like movies as much if I felt pressure about it - plus I'm too easily intimidated/not ambitious enough to ever consider being part of the industry in any capacity.

The review blog is a good idea. I just write about anything and everything in here, but I know it puts different people off. Some people probably read ONLY FOR the movie reviews, while others read ONLY FOR the rambling about my relationship, etc., etc.

I guess, at the end of the day, I like to keep this journal for myself, so I'll probably just keep it going how it is. :) I'm going to go over to your goodread site and add some recommendations to my to-read list. :D

American Culture- based on the idea that "american studies" is a field of unique american arts, and way of looking at life (which I disagree with), kind of a US sociology + history (lots of contemp. stuff) and Media Arts (classes in Journalism, which interested me more, and Film, which also interested me and were easier to get into.

I think it's nice to have a little of everything, but the audience probably does get bored with some stuff. still, nice to have stuff for yourself, but sometimes that's not enough; I just read my entire blog (late 2003) and discovered about three declarations, each one insisting it was the first time I said/realized, of general (agora) phobia. What the heck, Care?

Yea! Will have to check out waht you're reading too.
