Maybe the positiveness abroad is an innate defense mechanism? When in a strange land, it is bad to make enemies of the locals. Maybe our brains know that. It's only when we're home that we're comfortable enough to be bitchy.

no, the postivity is about people not being shit! and about giving people a chance even though you might not feel comfortable around them. So yeah, maybe being rude is much easier at home, but I think that's a defense mechanism to distance yourself from paying attention to anyone else's humanity.

I think this is more easily faciliated when you're standing on spongier ground.
