Thanks, although I must admit that it's an appropriation of something that's all over twitter, so I can't really take the credit. The bit about the Peasants' Revolt is mine though.
Aaron Porter's comments in a BBC News interview yesterday at around 7pm. It doesn't appear to be any kind of secret, as his first line of defence when accused of "allowing" the protest to escalate was that they employ a "reputable events firm" to run their demonstrations.
I was YELLING at both the news at 10 and at Newsnight yesterday bcs of the poor and beside-the-point reporting. And Jeremy Paxman pointing out to the woman that she was on a grant, was she not, for the four years and a bit that she has been studying, as if that was in any way relevant in connection to her right to protest pissed me off to an extent that made me throw cushions at the TV.
Other minor things illegal protest has achieved: fall of the Berlin wall (and subsequent reunification), ousting of the right-wing mayor of Hamburg.
I may have been a long way from the action, but I have very clear memories of watching news reports from Berlin when the Wall came down. For years I've laughed about my six-year-old self having asked "if all those people hated the Wall so much, why didn't they knock it down before?", and although it's a huge oversimplification of the issues, I'm starting to think that maybe I had just a little bit of a point.

It was such fun watching all this unfold yesterday - I am so pleased to see that someone is finally getting ANGRY about all this. Yeah!
