community, but by Turks themselves. There is a quite large proportion of
educated Turks who are very much interested in finding out more...by telling
them "shut up, or else you go to jail" we only alienate them, and push
them closer to the nationalist extremists. Also, we just give ammunition
to the extremists: now they can say "you see, the Armenians are conspiring
with the Western powers to send us all to jail just because we dare to
disagree. They are using the genocide issue to break up Turkey!"
Hrant Dink was right...at some point we will need to go to Turkey and
talk to the Turks themselves. External pressures can achieve only that much.
Besides, this is also a freedom of speech issue.

Regarding many Turks being interested in that matter, I think it's the opposite. A very large percentage of Turks believe the lies that they are fed but their government.
