I had to put my kitty to sleep yesterday. Heart failure. Poor girl. In some respects, it's great that we can make this decision for them, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. But she was almost 15, I loved her to bits, and she lived the life of a queen. I think it's the sudden-ness that's so tough: one day your pet is with you, the next she' ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear about your girl. It is so hard to say good bye to them. Even when we know it is in their best interests.

Well, you know, the vets, they can't actually advise euthanasia. What they do instead is suggest treatment, which I find laughable. But in fairness to my vet yesterday, she talked about an echocardiogram, (if you can believe that) and medication, which might've extended my cat's life another six months or so, but when I said no, I saw her visibly relax. In other words, she knew what was best for the cat and was relieved that I did, too. Besides, my poor girl. I could never put her through that, not for six more months of, what would that be, sort of a half-life? Gosh, I miss her, and this morning, the first morning without her, was HARD. But I know it'll get better, and I know I made the right decision. Thanks for your support.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. Pets are true members of the family and losing one is hard. Good for you for taking care of her and doing what needed to be done.

And I love the idea of attracting butterlies to her grave. What a beautiful tribute...

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's gonna be a while till this truly painful ache diminishes, but I'm *so* glad to have a backyard in which to bury her. If the milkweed grows (which it probably will - it's a weed, after all) and the monarchs come, it will be just like you said: a beautiful tribute. Thanks, again.
