"Can you make them tell us?" Wilder asked. He gestured at the frightened drunks. Gene sighed.
I can’t even make my wife love me. "Yes."
"And the answer is…?"
Sacramento is off of my list of places to go. "They haven’t seen our children. They’ve seen Power Pack, or some other two-bit super wannabes."
"Well," Wilder said. "That’s not helpful."
I’m sorry, Alice. "No."
"Are you alright?" Leslie Dean asked. "You look tired."
No. I’m an idiot. "Fine, Mrs. Dean." Do you know what your husband did with my wife last weekend? Do you care?
"I guess we’re done here. Put ‘em out. Let’s go home," Wilder ordered.
Gene very carefully edited the men’s memories and left. He was the first one to go and the first one home. Alice wasn’t back yet.
