"Darling, precious, beautiful Stacey?"
"What have you done this time?"
"Why on Earth has our dear friend, Mr. Dean, decided he’s a cabbage?"
That caught her off guard. "Pardon me?"
"Come look."
She came to stand beside him at the living room window and found that their dear friend, Mr. Dean, had, indeed, decided he was a cabbage.
"Darling, precious, handsome Dale?"
"Yes, my heart?"
"If you ever decide you’re a cabbage, don’t hesitate to never re-enter my house."
Dale hesitated. "What about the pants and the boots?"
"Do. Not."
She went back to the couch and curled around her book, trying to banish the image of their green lame-clad neighbor from her mind. Dale chuckled to himself and waved when Frank noticed him staring.
