Janet sneezed.
"Allergies?"
"Duh."
Victor rolled his eyes. "See if I’m sympathetic next time."
Her eyes were swollen and her nose was red. She looked like hell warmed over. He told her so.
"That’s no’ symbatedic."
"No, it’s not."
She curled up under the covers and growled at him, burying her face in the pillow.
"Do you want me to bring you anything?"
"Ndo."
Victor sat down on the bed beside her and ran a hand down her back.
"Don’d look ad be."
"Why not?"
She pressed her face further into the pillow. "Because you won’d love be anybore."
Victor kicked off his shoes and slid under the blankets with her. "Of course I’ll still love you. I’ll always love you."
She sniffed. He held her.
"Bromise?"
"I promise."
