Victor sighed and stared up at the ceiling. Janet lay asleep beside him, not caring for his thoughts or the world around her. A few moments earlier, she had been having a dream about purple walruses, which, he had concluded, were infinitely more interesting than waking up.
The universe was an imposing place.
He left it to itself and rolled onto his side. Slipped up behind Janet with an evil grin and curled his arms around her waist. She stirred and pressed against him.
Victor kissed the back of her neck. Janet moaned quietly in her sleep. He trailed a hand up her side. She batted at it. His hand cupped her breast. She gasped and woke up. Smacked the hand and jerked away.
“Victor!”
“What?”
Janet grabbed her pillow and proceeded to beat him with it.
