Ah, family tradition.
Dale always came home early when he knew Gertrude would be bringing her school pictures home. He never missed it. Always met her at the door with a delighted grin and ushered her inside.
Thirteen years old and she suddenly minded. Brought some friends home. When she tried to sneak off, he seized her arm.
"No, no, Gertrude, darling," he informed her. "You’re forgetting something."
Her friends giggled. She blushed. Followed him into the dining room, anyway.
Dale passed her the scissors with obvious glee and waited while she cut one loose and shoved it at him.
"Thank you, my precious," he said. "One for your mother?"
She groaned, but obliged him, anyway. As soon as she was done, she went back to her friends and said something very loudly about evil parents.
