It was odd, she thought. One little taste and she couldn’t stand to see him with other girls.
To see him without her.
One evening doing nothing less chaste than working on a class project together. One evening and one kiss. One long, wonderful, immersive kiss.
And then he was gone.
She watched him flirt. Felt her heart threaten to crack.
She must have caught his eye, though she wasn’t trying to, because he looked up with eyes that called out to hers. She worried her bottom lip and cowered behind her stack of books when he started toward her.
Maybe he’ll go away, she thought. Maybe he’ll go away and we can go on with our lives.
A gentle hand on her shoulder called her attention. He sat down beside her. Bit his tongue nervously.
"I-I have to get to work," she said weakly, gesturing at the books on the table.
"What subject?" he asked, oh-so-innocently.
"Uh…British Lit?"
He shook his head. Stared into timid green eyes. The books beside them were on quantum physics, but he wasn’t going to bother to correct her. It would only embarrass her.
He glanced at the girl he’d abandoned, then back to Stacey. She drew back, sure he’d been put up to it now.
"I, uh, I have to go," she mumbled, reaching for her things.
"One moment."
He reached out. Tilted her face up. Pressed his lips to hers as gently as he could stand to. She furrowed her brow and moaned quietly, letting him slip his tongue past her lips. She couldn’t pull away. Couldn’t even if she’d wanted to
When he finally released her, she stared up at him, desperate swells of emotion shining in her eyes. He shuddered a little. She gasped for breath.
"Can I see you again?" he whispered, lips moving against hers.
She couldn’t deny him. Couldn’t say no.
"Anything," she breathed. "Anything."
