046: Healing
Oh, it hurt. Every second was agony.
He looked at her, and he looked at their daughter, and he hurt so badly. And the wonderful kicker was that he couldn’t do a damned thing about it.
That witch girl was evil.
He looked at his wife and saw her die. He looked at his daughter and knew her death. And he smiled and went about his life like he hadn’t a clue.
No one could hear him scream. No one knew how badly he hurt. He couldn’t say anything, and even if he could, no one would believe him.
He wrapped his arms around Gert on an impulse. She grimaced and tried to pull away. He threatened to embarrass her, though, and she turned and returned his sudden sentiment.
Stacey smiled and watched them and he suddenly knew that she knew, too, and it was killing her slowly.
He tried to say something, but the words wouldn’t come.
