Your home looks so festive! We've got the tree up already, and we've been going to so many Advent Markts (we're in Germany) it's unbelievable!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!

wow, the tree already, we usually wait until 3 or 4th Advent for the tree but every family is different and some put it up much earlier here too..

Markt= markets? sales?

I'm glad you think it looks festive =D thank you

Yeah, Markt=Market. German and English have very similar words, haha.

We usually put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving. It's a family tradition.

Oh wow, we're in the same time zone?! If you don't mind me asking, where do you live? I'm a bit absent minded at times (okay, all the time).

I did the cross stitch work
On the stockings or on the banner? I think the banner is sweet. :)

Your decoration in the top left corner of that same picture is very similar to some my mom has. Too bad nobody sells them anymore, at least, not in the major stores. =\ They always look so festive to me. :)

I really like your window lights too, how neat that everyone does it! We're thinking about getting some of battery-operated candles for a couple of our windows, we have to be careful that it doesn't look "religious" or we might get in trouble with our landlord. (if he sees, which he probably won't since he's usually only around during the day, lol)

Also, the fruitcake looks delicious. I'm trying not to drool all over my laptop. ;) =DDD

Does the angel sit on a table/shelf, or is she meant to be on top of the tree? She is pretty, and I wish the tree angels here looked more like her and less like showgirls. :)

the banner, thank you! I love how it is the whole family making Christmas preparations

the decoration over the door is also cross stitch, done by me years ago, I love it as it has been around every Christmas I have had the children, it's really Christmas once it is up

is your landlord such a pain? does he really have the right to not let you light candles?
we have Advent stars in some windows too, lit up, ours are in the girls rooms, almost everyone that celebrates Christmas have them and the candlesticks.

it was so nice! light and fluffy

she is on my tv actually, she was bought in Germany and she has a lovely long dress that doesn't show..
showgirls???? have they missed the point???

HUGS!

Oh, no, no. I think I gave the wrong impression. We can light as many candles as we wish. We just aren't allowed to have anything religious or political visible from the road. :) Our landlord is actually quite nice. :)

I may have exaggerated a wee bit. I think "showgirls" when I see them because they have fiberoptic lights on their wings and in their arms, and it just looks so showy, not traditional at all. David and I are both kind of traditionalists, lol.

older homes here have deeper window sills, Scandanavian decor always seems so fresh and simple and clutter-free, what is actually kind of funny about that is my mil had a very cluttered overdone decor;), but then she had some issues with growing up just after the Great Depression and having irresponsible, selfish parents;)
