Title: Winter Coat

Summary: Hound can see underneath the cold exterior that Mirage uses to protect himself. Knowing what's wrong doesn't make helping him any easier, however.

Even though Mirage just went through a horrific experience, I love how sensitively Hound treated him. But Hound is kind and sensitive anyway...I love how he's a huge animal lover and had oodles of pets! Mirage couldn't ask for a better guide, mentor, friend and....

Haha, I've always figured Hound to have a ton of pets. I imagine he's always taking in strays. He feels a kinship with unwanted animals and it fulfills a personal need for him to care for them. Often this bleeds into his relationships as well and he tends to be drawn to damaged 'bots.

Hound does see some of that in Mirage as well, and once again he just has to reach out and help the animal huddled in it's little corner hissing and growling at everyone that tries to pet it.

Thank you ^_^ It's turning out so much fun to write these two getting to know each other. And oh, do I have plans in store for them. I am far from over with the Mirage angst and Hound being a knight in muddy armor.

Mirage takes a step forward, and then two steps back. I am a cruel, cruel person. At least he has Hound, and he's starting to learn to accept his support.

I really like that Hound apologized and isn't letting Mirage go away and hide.

His empathy with Mirage and how he was feeling after he found the family was very well done, too.

I like that they're beginning to find common ground with each other, slowly and steadily.

Thank you ^_^ I really enjoy trying to build up their friendship and understanding. I can't help giggling over what I have in store for them in the next chapter; and I really shouldn't be giggling given what it is I plan to do to them.
