HOORAH, so you think you can dance is back! And they've gone back to having a top 20, BUT are also including all-stars once the group is narrowed down to the top 10. I APPROVE OF THIS PLAN. I LOVED getting to see more of Kathryn and Ade and to see how much their dancing had grown in so short a time. If this year's all-stars are half as good as ( Read more... )

i really shouldn't ship this, high-fiving a million angels, sytycdance!

YAY SHOOOOW. I'm happy with the format they're using this year. I love having a full top twenty because I love the surprising pairings that come out of it, but I also like the numbers that come out of all-star pairings so this is a good compromise. I LOVE Melanie the best so far.

KATHRYN! I swear, they've never had a better top two girls than Kathryn and Ellenore.

This was the way they should have laid out the season last summer, but they obviously learned from their mistakes. Initial pairings can either be MAGICAL (like Legacy/Kathryn) and I'm uber-sad when they split up, or they can be DISASTEROUS yet continue to plow through b/c of judge-stanning/build up and unbelievable fan reaction (i.e. Nathan/Mollee).

Kathryn came out of NOWHERE for me, but pretty much by week 2 she was the one I was rooting for to take the whole damn thing. And yeah, S6 had AMAZING girls for the final 4, and I'm one of those people that get seriously giddy seeing them remain friends and continue to do things together.

S6 feels like a world away right now for some reason. I really liked S7, if only for the cast. I was in love with Billy and Kent and Lauren and Robert so, so much. I think the way you feel about Kathryn (who I love) and Legacy is how I feel about Kent and Lauren. But Billy was always my boy. 8D

I do really love and prefer the layout of this season. I like that we're getting a fully 20 but it'll be really nice to see All-Stars halfway through, especially depending on who they choose.

Right now I'm just missing Adam, woe.

I'm glad you enjoyed the s7 cast/season - i did enjoy a number of the routines. I didn't really have any favorites from vegas or the auditions, but Ashley became my horse in the race - and then she had to drop out and I tentitevly gave my quasi-support to Robert, but the judges were right whenever they said he needed to become more controlled in his movements and less gaingly and flaily (which was often). Billy disappointed me last season. I think that they had spent so much time building him up that when he didn't really deliver (at least in my mind) I just couldn't get on board with him - though he did have a few great dances (Mad World comes to mind). Kent bugged me from the start and I just thought he looked ridiculously young in most of his partner dances when he was supposed to look mature and masculine. I'm not discounting his talent at all - he clearly was - he just did not connect with me at all. LoFro was never really on my radar but she always did well and I was happy it was her who ended up taking it ( ... )

I think for me re: Billy was that, objectively, yes, he didn't live up to expectations but I had fallen in love with him so much and was so excited for him to be back, that I put blinders on regarding him and wanted him to the best there ever was. But I still loved that trip + Robert and enjoyed the season. Though I'm already liking this one more. Plus I love the set-up of Top 20 and then bringing in the All-Stars once you get to the Top 10.

Oh man, all my favourites made it into the Top 20 this year so I am excited!

AAAHHHHH DARLING. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. YOU ARE REALIZING WHAT IS TRULY GLORIOUS, GLORIOUS TELEVISION. Seriously, it is without a doubt in my top five. How are you enjoying it so far? WE SHOULD TALK MORE.

Eeee! No way! I'm in total SYTYCD mood right now and then I saw this. Awesome.

And oh, my love for Legacy (and Kathryn) know no bounds. I guess he's exactly my type or something because I just stare transfixed and grin like an idiot every time he's on screen, even if he's fully clothed in baggy B-boy gear and surrounded by a bunch of practically naked contemporary guys with sick torsos. He'd better be around, preferably as an All Star, this year. If Jeffrey "Machine" McCann gets through, I hope they get to do something together. He's at least a real match for Legacy while José decidedly wasn't.

Last episode was definitely great, Hiro and Patty Anne especially were awesome. Good to see girls that do something else than contemporary or ballroom, and do it well. Mary Kate the Irish dancer from a couple of episodes back was also amazing, I hope she'll do well.

And now I must watch all of those videos. Damn you. :D

Kathryn/Legacy will never be eclipsed for me. NEVER. And I love that continue to work together and do things after the show. PLUS, don't know if you saw but they were in the audience at the LA auditions:

Mary Kate was great! I wonder how she and the hip hop kids do in Vegas with the other styles - although I've been mildly spoiled for 4 of the top 20 (mixed reactions so far) Vegas should be interesting

Glad I could be of service! AND YES, I always seem to have a lot of ~FEELINGS~ about this show but I never thought I had anyone to share them with, so YAY for people coming out of the woodwork!

That routine was great! But I didn't start watching until S5, so I thought I'd only include routines I'd loved watching live. I have seen a bunch of routines from past seasons, but I don't know - they don't seem to pack the same emotional punch as those I've seen live. Maybe it's something to do with knowing and watching the dancers over the course of the season and seeing the connection they had (or didn't have) with their various partners, but I definitely feel like there's some kind of different element missing from the past seasons' routines I see clipped up on youtube.
