Um, I wouldn't say that's precisely untrue, because I was absolutely gutted after seeing the finale, but I've also gotta say that the Shield is amazing TV and Walton's best work so far. Tragic as it was, I don't regret watching it, and *insert Kanye West* Shane is one of my favorite characters of all time (well, so is Boyd, but they're vastly different).

I will have to try watching it again. Part of my problem could have been that the only episodes I had at hand were season 6 episodes and that's the start of his downfall/ fallout with Chiklis' character. I did really like him in the episodes I saw, my problem is that Chiklis tends to overpower everything around him. *goes in search of the first season* I was going to cave and watch this eventually. I need more Goggins in my life :D

I try to avoid things that will gut me like that these days because sadly I no longer have a tolerance for it. What Dreams May Come was a favorite film of mine and I can't sit through it anymore. Hell, I can't watch the ending of The Mist without bawling uncontrollably. Lousy Frank Darabont lol

Ah, well, the Shield is definitely a show you'd need to watch beginning to end for it to really resonate (I marathoned it all in a couple of weeks). Walton's character probably goes through the biggest evolution (he starts out as the comic relief-ish fuckup, ends up as the most tragic character of the show). Chiklis is sorta the powerhouse of the show, but I'd say that halfway through season 7, Walton actually begins to overshadow him. He's just unbelievably raw, and it's some serious injustice that he didn't get an Emmy nom (or win, seriously).

I dunno, I'd almost recommend watching it all but the final episode if you wanna avoid scarring your soul, but that finale is friggin' amazing, so really, I don't know what to tell you. xD

I think I'm going to pick up the complete series box set this week and just watch it. My roommate will just have to deal lol I did the same thing with The West Wing and by the end of it I couldn't even MENTION the show without her threatening to punch me. I really need to find a marathoning buddy again...

If I watch everything else, there's no way I could skip the finale. I'll just have to suck it up and hope prior knowledge softens the impact :D

It's really a shame that amazing character actors never get the recognition they deserve. We need to make special fan awards just to honor them.
