I'm currently sitting for my MA competency exams, and I have two days left. So far I've put my body and mind through hell--not eating, not sleeping, cracked out and obsessing over every word of every sentence. I should be studying for my MA comps--I take them this Thursday-Sunday--but I'm having a hell of a time concentrating. I feel really "spring" right now; music is brighter, words are sharper, memories are simultaneously more bitter and more sweet. I just have all this emotional energy that I can't really account for.

this morning it occured to me that you could do a pretty simple structuralist analysis of gilmore girls. The basic rule? You are prohibited from combining affinal (romantic/friendly) and consanguinal (blood) relationships into one social unit. All the dramatic tension of the show is a variation on this simple theme.
