I absolutely love a capella and I feel compelled to share this with you. This performance slays me for two reasons: the first is soloist's arresting, beautiful voice. I mean just listen. When I was in Jr. High, I was in choir; both years, I and four others from my school were selected via audition to participate in the Louisiana All-State Chorus. Leaving our respective schools behind(where choir kids were habitually ridiculed), around one hundred of us would convene somewhere in the state for three days and make beautiful, beautiful music with all judgements and belittling cast aside. It allowed us at a young age a chance to publicly enjoy our "gifts" as opposed to stifling them. This is reminiscent of that, except on a much higher calibre. The singers feed off one anothers' energy, relishing the resonance of their voices in harmony with the others'.
It gives me chills to think about it, as it does listening to this; I dearly miss having such opportunities.
