I'll bravely answer :-)

I've assumed that those strange sensations were related to oncoming menopause (I'm 52), but it could very well be diabetes-related neuropathy.

Thanks for being brave! :) I'm only 33... lol so pretty unlikely it's menopause... possible but really really unlikely!

lol the looks on my doctors face when I mention it are funny...it's like "what in the world is wrong with you!? WEIRDO!" i'm hoping other women here know what I'm talking about!

Have you had blood tests done? A couple of years ago (maybe four or five?) I was having similar really sharp owie burning feelings in that area. My gynecologist ended up testing my prolactin levels because he was concerned it was some sort of hormone imbalance.

were you imbalanced? ;) I honestly don't remember if they tested hormones or not. I'll add that to my list when i get a new gyn here. (I haven't seen one since I moved to Idaho)

I honestly don't remember. I remember that my gyne said he'd do some ultrasounds if they didn't resolve, but it eventually did.

Have you recently had a child? If so, it could be breast milk (that can stay around for a year even if you don't breastfeed).

You can have vasoconstriction (vasospasm) in the nipples. It can be quite uncomfortable and mimic what I would think neuropathy feels like - especially during breastfeeding, although without as well. Good luck!
