Hi, everyone, I'm new. I'm not sure if I introduced myself, but, I'm the son of a mother who lives with diabetes and polysensory neuropathy. My mom's health has been slipping and because of her neuropathy she can't be standing too long and things are just really crazy in terms of trying to work that way. I don't really know much about later stage stuff; my gma had diabetes but died of something unrealted before I was born, and I'm super well controlled. are there any support groups in your area? even an online group might have good ideas. does she have a dr who is any help or who could recommend someone else, like a social worker or a diabetes educator? I'm sure having an increasing disability like that is REALLY frustrating and scary; can you call around local hospitals and see if there are any patient support groups maybe even just about disabilities in general? a college/university with information on disabilities? does she have a counselor or even a trusted spiritual advisor-type-person to talk to? I can't even imagine how scary that could be.

also, is there anything she can do to manage her diabetes better so that this doesn't advance, or is it not something manageable? can she change drugs at all or add something?

good luck, that's great that you're involved in her situation and trying to get support for her!
