English Version Lyrics

Look, people. If you're not actively trying to learn the language, stop fucking acting like you know it. Seriously. I've taken five-six years of German, spent huge amounts of time studying and dissecting the language, and I still fuck up words and get confused by things I don't know all the time. There's no way you, if you can't carry more than a ( Read more... )

You don't have to know German to give an opinion on English lyrics. You just have to know English. And wow, could you possibly be more condescending?

And if you're going to make snotty remarks about things you read in my journal, I would suggest that you remember that you are friends with a number of people that I am also friends with, and thus your public posts show up when I read my friendsfriends list.

That would require my comment to be directed at you in the first place, as opposed to an irl discussion with several "fans".

And let me clear this up since you are under the belief that I am persecuting you. This post is about yesterday's Kaffeestunde at my college. It's an hour where we discuss any topic in German and the level of speaking's a bit higher up than your average high school grad. We were talking about the translation of the word "ueber" in Spring Nicht by Tokio Hotel, discussing why it was translated as "on top of" in English. Several freshmen were trying to convince me that it should be "over" and that uber was an acceptable spelling of ueber if an umlaut key was not available on an American keyboard. I was pissed about how little commitment they had to learning the language and posted about it before I left for my 7:30 a.m. exam. So, unless you were up at six-thirty when you posted this post that I now can't find any mention of, this has nothing to do with you.
