I think this the problem that all awards/challenges sites and and LJs have. You can't have them consecutively one after the other.

Like a fic exchange needs to be spread out. I hope it does continue there isn't enough Dramione activities in the fandom.

Whoops. My bad. I was late entering too. Why not try giving a longer deadline and more reminders of the ongoing challenge, then promoting the community on a semi-ongoing basis? It seems like there are loads of icon makers, doesn't it? Lots of people posting at dramione and dhr_palette. Maybe we can convince them to come our way...

I'm working of my exchange story today but I will try to remember to post at a few places about the current challenge.
