Waves break over that Maine example, high tide in a storm. Plus, you'd have some problems with sewer and water utilities.

Yeah, I figure if you wanted to live there you'd have to basically build a lighthouse, possibly without the light.

Then again, building lighthouses is somewhat of a solved problem, so....
