The bitch for me is looking at all these cities where I really, really meant to take the train, but never got around to it, or where, when one came down to it, walking seemed easier. Cairo is a big regret in particular, just because the station was so convenient and the drivers were so homicidal. But, I suppose, a reason to return to all of these cities.

I'm also irritated because Japan Rail operates what is tantamount to a competing subway in all the Japanese cities we visited, and because we had a Japan Rail pass, we tended to ride those rather than each city's individual subway system. The next time I travel, I'm really going to have to take under consideration what memes I might fill out.
