Trondheim: the city that stumbles seedily about in a distressed leather jacket and run-down black jeans while crooking its track-marked elbow around its hot Asian girlfriend. I very much hope to have polar bear pictures for you. Also for me.

And a rock. I have two rocks already, but considering that the reason I wanted to go to Svalbard in the first place was the description Richard Fortay gives of his depressing year doing fieldwork looking for fossils in Spitsbergen, I'm holding out for a better rock.

I bought my Wellies in Copenhagen -- where they were on sale. Having never really been in the market for Wellington boots before, I had no idea where I'd next see them, and no inkling that they'd be sold in every shoestore and camping store and quickie mart in Norway. I am happy though that the Danish prices were quite reasonable compared to this ubiquitous Norwegian usury.
